Mangaluru, Aug 10: A city-based businessman has gone missing under suspicious circumstances and police have found his sports utility vehicle near Netravati bridge on the outskirts of the city.

According to Mangaluru South Police, Narayan Alva, 62, resident of Yemmekere, never returned after he left his home at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to his family sources, 62-year-old Alva, who owns fleet of private city buses and also runs a well-known garage, was under dialysis from past ten years.
The three children of Alva reportedly told police that the latter used to tell them that he is a burden to them as he was suffering from illness for several years and wanted die soon.
Even though the police are of the suspicion that he might have committed suicide by jumping into Netravati river, they are probing the case in all angles.
“We found Alva's car parked near the bridge. This might be a case of suicide. However, we cannot confirm anything now. Investigation is under progress,” claimed a police officer on condition of anonymity.
However, no search was carried out for the body in the river.
