Mangaluru, Oct 2: 'Beary Bhasha Prachara Abhiyana', a campaign to promote Beary language, organsied by the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, was formally launched on Thursday in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner in the city.
Flagging off the campaign, Jacintha Vijaya Alfred, the Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation said that like Tulu and Konkani languages, Beary language is also part of the culture of coastal Karnataka.
Commending the work of Beary Academy, she said that it should continue such activities and spread the values and culture of Beary language to promote harmony in the society.
K Mohammed, president of Chikkamagaluru district Beary Okkuta released a compact disc of Beary songs. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Beary speaking community should not neglect their own language.
DM Aslam, President, Kendra Beary Parshat, said that the Academy should use Beary language and culture to unite the people in coastal Karnataka.
B A Mohammed Haneef, president of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy welcomed the guests. Umarabba, registrar compered the programme.
