Mangaluru, Mar 27: Police averted a possible Bajrang Dal attack on a party in Mangaluru by briefly detaining a group of boys and girls who were partying at midnight at a house in the city.
Around a dozen college students from Bengaluru had booked the top floor of a house at Maroli locality in the city for couple of days.
It is learnt that the owner house named ‘Santhrupti’ located at Morali usually gives a portion of his house on rent for parties and temporary stay for outsiders.
According to sources, the boys and girls had entered the house on Wednesday and a party was held throughout the night. On Thursday night too, the youth started partying. When the party went on till late night, irked local residents complained to the police.
Meanwhile, a group of activists belonging to Hindutva outfits gathered in the area. However, police from Mangaluru Rural Police Station reached the spot on time ended the party.
Source said that the police had to jump over the compound as the entrance gate was locked. The owner of the house also was present in the house when the police entered the house.
The police took the partying students-both boys and girls- into custody for question and later let them go.
