Mangaluru, Jul 15: The police have cracked the robbery case at govt. employees’ quarters in the city. Sleuths from Kavoor police station arrested a 23-year-old man who is allegedly involved in a robbery at the quarters of a 58-year-old stenographer in the Commercial Tax Department on Saturday night.

The arrested has been identified as Taranath (23) of Padavinangady. The police recovered Rs. 600 and the motorcycle used for robbery. The police are searching others allegedly involved in the act.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Shantaraju told presspersons on Tuesday that Taranath painted himself with red to show Radha that he had been injured in an accident. When Ms. Radha, who was alone at the house, opened the door to offer water, Taranath and another person entered the house. They reportedly assaulted her, tied her to a chair and went away with a gold chain, Rs. 39,000 and three mobile phones.
Suspected robbers held
Meanwhile, the Mangaluru South police arrested Altaf (23) and Rajesh (33), who are allegedly involved in a robbery case at the service bus stand and a theft of motorcycle in Tota Bengre. The accused were also involved in a case of assault and two cases of robbery in Mangaluru North police station limits.
Dacoity accused held
The Central Crime Branch police arrested Mohammed Rafiz (26) of Manjanady. A local court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Rafiz as he had not appeared before the court for hearing of cases related to thefts at temples and a couple of cases of dacoity.
