Mangaluru, Dec 20: An elderly man was found dead under mysterious circumstances on board a stationary mini lorry near Nanthoor in the city on Saturday, December 20.
Police sources said that 60-year-old lorry cleaner Ashok's body was found wrapped in a thick blanket.
The inter-state mini lorry from Hariyana had stationed at Himalayan transport agency near Nanthoor a few days ago after ferrying plywood to Kerala.
Source said that a few people sensed nasty smell emanating from the stationary lorry on Saturday. When they checked they saw a dead body.
Police said that the whereabouts of the lorry driver is not yet known.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of murder, as injury marks were found on the decayed dead body. It is learnt that the lorry was owned by one Malkan Singh from Haryana.
The body was shifted to Government Wenlock Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered at Kadri Police Station.
