Mangaluru, Aug 18: Chaos erupted at private hospital in Mangaluru taluk when the family members of a patient, who died in the Intesive Care Unit allegedly assaulted two resident doctors and a nurse on Monday.

According to information reaching here, enraged and aggrieved family members trooped into the medical ICU of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Deralakatte after 22-year-old Mohammed Faisal, a Gulf returnee hailing from Beeri-Kotekar died.
The family members rained blows on Jasir Ali and Vijosh, the two resident doctors in the ICU, and a nurse. They also damaged a few equipment and furniture there, said sources.
The police rushed to the spot as people started to gather in good numbers. The family members staged a demonstration seeking action for alleged negligence. The police officials were holding talks with the family members and trying to defuse the situation.
The treatment of patients at the ICU was affected following the incident, the sources added.
Faisal, who had flown into Gulf around eight months ago, had returned home after some time due to kidney ailment. He got admitted to Yenepoya hospital and underwent dialysis regularly. However, his conditioned worsened all of a sudden on Monday and breathed his last in the ICU.
