Mangaluru, Sep 17: The father and brother of former Mangaluru DySP Ganapathi, who killed himself two-and-a-half months ago, have moved the high court seeking a CBI probe into the suicide case.
Owing to political pressure, the CID is likely to close its investigation by filing a B report to favour them, they alleged.
The petitioners said they suspect foul play because Ganapathi would never have killed himself. Further, they said, it cannot be a case of suicide since two rounds of bullets had been fired from his service revolver in the room where he was found dead.
Ganapathi, who was the Mangaluru DySP, died under mysterious circumstances at a lodge in Madikeri on July 7.
The petition will come up before another high court judge next week as Justice AS Bopanna recused himself from hearing the petition on Friday.
