Mangaluru, Oct 14: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel urged the government to immediately hand over a sum of Rs 25 lakh compensation to the family members of deceased Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary and arrest the culprits.

Speaking at a press conference at the BJP office here on Wednesday, he said that the attack on the activist in broad daylight had occurred since the police department had failed to take action in similar cases of assault on rightwing activists in Moodbidri limits in the recent past.
The police should take immediate action against the guilty in Prashant murder case, he said, alleging that there was a political angle to the inaction of the police in connection with the murder case.
People suspect that there is a role of Congress behind the failure of police department in the district, especially in the case of Prashant murder. The police department and the government should act responsibly and take proper action against those who orchestrate such attacks, he said.
Mr Kateel claimed that the Congress state government was responsible for all the violent attacks occurring in the district. "Incidents of ‘moral policing’ occur when people lose their faith in the police department. This term (moral policing) has been coined by the police themselves, not me," he clarified.
