Mangaluru, Oct 5: JCI Mangaluru, in association with Lions Club, Mangaluru, Lioness Club, Mangaluru and Leo Club, Mangaluru, conferred ‘Outstanding Young Person Award’ at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte recently.
M R Poovamma (Sports), Bhavan PG (Painting), Praveen Udupa (Science and Technology), Shabarinathan (Business), Dayanand Kukkaje (Journalism), Tauseef Ahmed (Animal Care), Praveen Kalamadni (Academic) were felicitated with the award.
Kamalpatra award was conferred on Dr Rahul T G, special recognition was given to Ashley D’Souza and silent worker Yogish Nayak was also felicitated.
Speaking on the occasion, past executive president of JCI India, Sadananda Navada said, "JCI has completed 50 years of its inception and during this time we have conducted several activities which encourage youngsters to bring out their talents. We are conferring this award on young achievers; many from Mangaluru have been conferred with the awards in the past".
First vice district governor of Lions district 317-D, Ronald Gomes said, "This award to young achievers will encourage youngsters to do better in their respective fields.”
JCI Mangaluru president Shailaja A Rao welcomed the gathering and JCI Mangaluru secretary Shwetha Jain rendered vote of thanks.
President of Lions Club Mangaluru Vijaya Vishnu Mayya, JCI Mangaluru Treasurer Manisha and Convenor Akshatha Kamath were present.
