Mangaluru, Sep 21: City Police Commissioner S Murugan said that the CCB police had thwarted a plot to murder a prominent builder based in Mangaluru and arrested an accused in the case.

The accused Raju alias Japan Manga (24) from Kavoor, who is a member of a gang, was arrested by the police for plotting to murder the businessman. There are other accused involved in the plot and attempts are being by police teams to nab them shortly, he informed.
He said that the accused was a habitual offender and had been previously involved in three cases of attempt to murder pertaining to Mangaluru Rural, Barke and Kasargod police station limits and another case of armed robbery in Suratkal police station limits.
He also informed that a total of 19 cases including robbery and extortion had been detected in Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate limits in the past month. A total of 22 accused have been arrested and assets worth over Rs 6 lakh have been recovered in this regard, he said.
As part of precautionary measures in connection with maintenance of law and order in the city limits during festivities such as Ganesh Chaurthi and Bakrid this month, the city police have issued a bond on 120 rowdy-sheeters with a surety under Sections 107, 109 and 110 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), said the police commissioner.
DCP (Law & Order) Shantharaju and DCP (Crime & Traffic) Dr Sanjeev Patil were present on the occasion.
