Mangaluru, Aug 12: Continuing its mission to help deserving and needy students of the Beary community, United Arab Emirates-based Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF), will hold a scholarship meet on Sunday, August 14, at Loyola Hall, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.
Announcing this at a press conference in the city on Friday, M E Muloor, chairman, BCF Scholarship Committee, revealed that this year scholarships will be distributed among 600 college students of different courses from pre-university to post-graduation degrees.
The day-long programmes will commence at 9:30 a.m. with a dua by Udupi Khazi Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal. Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo will inaugurate a career guidance camp.
Dr BK Yusuf, president, BCF, will preside over the inaugural programme. Ibrahim Kodichal, MUDA chairman, will deliver keynote address. SM Rashid Haji, chairman, DK Wakf Advisory Committee, BA Mohammed Haneef, president, Beary Sahitya Academy, Mohammad Nazeer, commissioner, MCC, will be the chief guests.
Dr Kaup Mohamed, honorary general secretary, BCF, will lead the career guidance session. Riyaz Ahmed, president TRF, will explain the students about the government's scholarship programmes for the minorities.
Wheel-chairs and sewing machines
On the same day the Forum will prove wheel chairs for physically challenged and sewing machines for economically backward women from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
This session will be inaugurated by Zafarullah Khan, MD of Zain International Group of Hotels, at 2:30 p.m. Y Abdullah Kunhi, chancellor, Yenepoya University, BM Farooq, industrialist, will speak on the occasion.
The chief guests include ministers B Ramanath Rai, UT Khader, Pramod Madhwaraj, legislators Mohiuddin Bava, Ivan D'Souza, Capt Ganesh Karnik and others.
Dr Kaup Mohamed, BM Mumtaz Ali, patron of BCF, Abdul Latheef Mulki and Akif Husain, vice presidents of BCF were present at the press meet.
