Bengaluru, Oct 19: The government of Karnataka has issued safety guidelines for Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations amid covid-19 pandemic.

Eid Milad is celebrated on 12th of Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal every year to mark birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It falls on October 29 in coastal belt of Karnataka and on October 30 in other parts of Karnataka this year.

The government has not only urged the people in general to strictly follow all guidelines related to covid-19 but also urged those who celebrate festivals like Eid Milad to take additional precautions.

The authorities have warned that mass gatherings are events that could amplify the transmission of the virus. Hence Eid Milad and other religious gatherings or congregations should be organized while taking care of the precautions and SOPs pertaining to gatherings to avoid the chances of spread of covid-19.

The government has banned processions, sermons in public places, cultural events and other gatherings during the festival. It also has prohibited using loud speakers in public places.

The government has warned of stringent action against those who violate the covid-19 safety guidelines inside or outside the mosques.
