Mangaluru, Dec 30: A young motorcyclist lost his life after he was knocked down by a speeding tipper lorry at Ujjodi near Pumpwell Circle in the city on Tuesday.
29-year-old Lathish Kumar breathed his last within a few minutes after he was admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition.
Hailing from Beeri near Kotekar, Latish was a working as marketing agent in a private firm in the city and he was temporarily residing at Pandeshwar area. It is learnt that his wife is pregnant.
The incident occurred when the motorbike-borne Latish was patiently waiting behind a bus which was about to move. All of a sudden the speeding tipper lorry belonging to Navayuga Engineering Company rammed into the motorbike.
Within a few seconds the tipper drive fled the spot leaving the heavy vehicle in the neutral gear. As a result the tipper began to move itself amok and damaged a car before landing in a ditch.
Eye witnesses held the reckless driving by the tipper driver responsible for the tragedy. A case has been registered at Mangaluru Rural Police Station.
