Mangaluru, Oct 21: In an unfortunate incident, miscreants threw stones at the Noorul Islam Juma Masjid in Kumpala and broke the windows of the masjid.

The khateeb of the masjid informed that the miscreants threw stones and broke around 12 windows of the masjid and also removed the name plate put up at the entrance of the masjid and threw it outside the compound.
The incident came to light after the Ishaa prayers when those living in the vicinity of the masjid heard the sound of stone-pelting in the late hours of Monday. On this, the khateeb of the masjid was immediately informed of the incident, after which it was confirmed that stones had indeed been thrown.
On receiving the information, Ullal police inspector Savitratej and other officers visited the spot and collected information. The dog squad was also brought and pressed into action at the crime scene.
It is learnt that the Ullal police have taken two accused into custody on Tuesday in connection with this incident.
Members of the masjid committee have lodged a complaint and a case has been booked in this regard.
