Mangaluru, Aug 19: Sleuths from Panambur police station in Mangaluru have arrested two persons for illegally transporting buffaloes in a lorry from Mulki towards Kerala on Tuesday and seized 23 buffaloes from their possession.

The two accused have been identified as Hammabba Monu and Ibrahim.
At the time of intercepting the cattle-laden lorry, the lorry driver Sinoj is said to have fled from the scene.
A case has been registered against the driver and lorry owner K Mohammed Kunhi.
It is learnt that Panambur police began following the lorry from MCF company near Panambur on the national highway and intercepted it. The lorry driver stopped the lorry at the side of the highway and fled from the spot.
Surrounding the lorry thereafter, the police found two persons and 23 buffaloes in the lorry. It is said that they were illegally transporting the buffaloes to a slaughterhouse without a permit.
The police have registered a case of illegal cattle trafficking against the accused.
