Mangaluru, Jun 3: In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old youth was stabbed to death by a miscreant in a broad daylight near Taluk Panchayat office in Mangaluru on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Ranjit, a resident of Mogaveerapatna in Ullal on the outskirts of the city.
Police sources said that Dhanu, a resident of Kanduka chased and stabbed Ranjith on Wednesday afternoon in the city and fled the spot.
A severely Ranjith ran for life and reached a nearby canteen. He was then rushed to Government Wenlock Hospital.
However, he breathed his last before reaching the hospital. Doctors pronounced him brought dead.
It is learnt that both the victim and the attacker were known to each other. Unconfirmed sources claimed that both were engaged in ganja peddling.
City Police Commissioner S Murugan visited the spot and expressed confidence that cops would nab the culprit. "We have got some clues and are working on them. We will be able to catch the attacker soon," he said. More details are awaited.
