Manipal, May 30: The death of a middle-aged person who had come to be treated at Kasturba Medical College Hospital at Manipal is alleged to be due to the negligence of the resident doctor. The deceased is Shashiprasad (45), resident of Kasturba Nagar in Chitpady in Udupi.

Shashiprasad was said to be suffering from throat pain and registered as a patient in the Out-patient Department (OPD) at KMC Hospital on May 24 for treatment. He was referred by Dr Shivashankar to visit the ENT specialist Dr Balakrishna for examination and diagnosis of his condition.

After examination of his illness, Dr Balakrishna directed the concerned nurse to give the patient Shashiprasad an injection. While the nurse was doing so, Shashiprasad suddenly collapsed on the ground, following which he was immediately admitted in the hospital as an emergency case.

At this point, it is said that the doctor admitted his mistake to the family members of Shashiprasad and offered to rectify it and cure the patient.

However, Shashiprasad did not respond to the treatment and breathed his last on the morning of May 29.

Following his death, his brother Sampath Rao has lodged a complaint at Manipal police station in which he has blamed Dr Balakrishna for medical negligence which resulted in the death of Shashiprasad.

KMC manipal ,the worst hospital ever I seen in my life.Bcoz I have experienced personally when taken treatment for my mother.I lost my Mother bcoz of their medical negligency. They are using maximam patient for teach their students. In order to teach maximum level , they are playing with Human life .Doctors and Hospital management does not have any humanity & Kindness in their blood . They are professionally well trained masters for swindling & robbing from the patient no matter what background patience come from.Even after spending such huge amount , we are not only loosing money but also a human life .They are least bothered & don't spare human life. I Have observed and come acrossed mutilple occasion during my Mom admitted in hospital.

I don't like to critize anyone unless we personally experienced. Its a true facts what ever I mentioned .I kindly request every one not to visit KMC manipal if you value your life. Manipal doctors are almost God! They're the absolute best. Anyone who disagrees is a fool. See... I said almost God. Not God! They do a great job... But sometimes things r beyond human control. I know the above mentioned doctor! He's a legend. People from all over the world come specifically for him. So whoever spoke badly of the doctor, know that ur karma will hit u back big time!

I lost my mother, these hospitals are not center for treatment, they are business centers and those who treat there are assholes. they are just money minded, i have a video how they spread virus too.
i will upload that very soon. the security bastards won't allow us even if your loved ones are dead inside ICU. Oh! i forgot to mention the ICU Concept in this business is very dangerous they keep patient far from germs in this unit, if you are thinking like this you are wrong. they are keeping their loved ones far so they can't see anyone inside and what is going on.. once my mom informed my dad that they left her naked in front of other patient for a long time it seems . such a shame. they also might have made their family members in front of many to get a job like that. they doesn't even know what is going to happen to the patient and just walks in the morning and evening and learnt story telling very well from primary school.

Campaigning for 14 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka going to polls in the first phase on April 26 will come to an end on Wednesday evening.

A total of 247 candidates -- 226 men and 21 women -- are in the fray for this round of voting in most of the southern and coastal districts.

It is a straight electoral contest between the ruling Congress and the BJP-Janata Dal (Secular) combine in the State.

While the Congress is contesting in all 14 seats, BJP has fielded nominees in 11, and its alliance partner JD(S) in three -- Hassan, Mandya and Kolar.

Besides the three, the segments where elections will be held on Friday are: Udupi-Chikmagalur, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South and Chikkballapur.

The intense campaigning for the past about a month saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah leading from the front for the BJP, holding rallies and roadshows. BJP President J P Nadda, some Union Ministers and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant too pitched in.

Veteran BJP leader and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and the party's state president B Y Vijayendra also campaigned extensively.

Congress president M Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy were among the prominent names who led the charge for the party.

And for the JD(S), it was the 90-year-old party patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who led the campaign.

Chikkaballapur has a maximum number of 29 candidates, followed by 24 in Bangalore Central and Dakshina Kannada has the least number - nine.

Kumaraswamy from Mandya, his brother-in-law and noted cardiologist C N Manjunath from Bangalore Rural on a BJP ticket, erstwhile Mysuru royal family scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar from Mysore, also from the BJP, and state Congress President Shivakumar's brother and MP D K Suresh from Bangalore Rural, are among the prominent candidates in the fray in the first phase.

The state has a total of 28 Lok Sabha segments. The remaining 14 constituencies, mostly in the northern districts, will go to polls on May seven.

Mysuru, Apr 13: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be visiting Mysuru on Sunday, is welcome in the state.

"Let him come and go. He is the PM. But he should tell people about what he has done to the people of Karnataka. Let him answer about the injustice done by the Union Government towards the state in terms of giving tax share, not releasing drought relief funds yet and also about the unemployment issue," he said.

The Chief Minister was speaking to media people near his residence at Sharadadevi Nagar in Mysuru on Saturday.

Reacting to a question on BJP's slogan, 'Teesri Baar Modi Sarkar, Ab Ki Baar Char Sau Paar' (Modi government for the third time with over 400 seats), CM Siddaramaiah said, "This slogan is only a strategy to divert the minds of people. Because, according to me, the NDA will not get an absolute majority/simple majority this time in the Parliament elections."

"I.N.D.I.A. bloc and the parties which are against BJP will get a majority in the Lok Sabha polls," he said.

Responding to the statement of BJP leaders that 'even if B R Ambedkar comes, the Indian Constitution cannot be changed', Siddaramaiah said, "BJP is always against the Indian Constitution. Savarkar and the second Chief of RSS M S Golwalkar both opposed the Indian Constitution written by Baba Saheb B R Ambedkar on January 26, 1950."

"When BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde spoke about changing the Indian Constitution twice, why wasn't he punished? Why wasn't he suspended from the party? Why didn't they drop him from the cabinet?"

"Hegde was not given a ticket for the LS polls, as he had not done any work in the five years and was only active for the last three-four months of his term. The reason Hegde was not given a ticket was because BJP had realised that he would lose the elections, and not because of his statement related to the Constitution" the Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, regarding the nabbing of the two key suspects in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said, "I thank the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and also the Karnataka police for tracing and arresting the accused in the case, in Kolkata."

"They will be brought to Bengaluru and further information related to the case will be known after their interrogation," he said.

A good number of people turned out to vote during the early hours. Voters are bearing the scorching sun while stepping out to exercise their franchise as heat wave is sweeping through the state.

The polling process remained largely peaceful, with long queues observed at polling stations from 7 am onwards in several polling stations. However, technical glitches caused delays at a polling station in Karopady, and at St. Xavier School Bejai, where polling was reportedly delayed by nearly two hours.

Polling staff at a booth near the Mulki police station mistakenly marked the wrong finger with ink during voting. They reportedly applied ink to the index finger of the right hand. According to sources, at least 50 individuals had their index finger of the right hand inked. Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mulihan clarified, "The matter was promptly addressed by the sector office. This error affected 8-9 voters"

A total of 18.18 lakh voters in the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency and 15.85 lakh in Udupi-Chikmagalur hold the power to determine the fate of candidates competing for their respective segments. The polling process is currently underway across 1,876 booths in Dakshina Kannada and 1,842 polling stations in the Udupi-Chikmagalur segment.

In Dakshina Kannada, a closely contested battle is anticipated between Captain Brijesh Chowta representing the BJP and Padmaraj R Poojary from the Congress. Meanwhile, in the Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency, Kota Shrinivas Poojary of the BJP and K Jayaprakash Hegde of the Congress are the prominent contenders.

Details to follow.
