Mangaluru, Apr 11: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim gave a call to register all masjids, madrasas, burial grounds and religious other assets in the district coming under the purview of the revenue department in order to gain maximum benefit from government facilities.

Addressing the information workshop organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Wakf Advisory Committee for office-bearers of all masjids and madrasas in Mangaluru taluk limits here recently, he said that all members of the managing committee of masjids should realise their duty and responsibility towards the management of the respective masjid.
Expressing dissatisfaction at the low turnout of masjid committee members at the workshop, he said that masjid committee members should utilise the facilities provided by the government by taking part in such workshops which would prove beneficial for the development of the masjids. All registered documents should be collected and verified to be recognised by the government, he said.
He further said that most office-bearers of masjid committees were not aware of the facilities provided by the government. They are not aware of the land and other assets belonging to their respective masjids, he said, adding that it was condemnable to show negligence in matters pertaining to the development of institutions such as masjids and madrasas.
Karnataka State Wakf Board member Yenepoya Mohammed Kunhi inaugurated the programme and workshop. DK District Wakf Advisory Committee chairman Haji S M Rasheed presided over the programme.
On the occasion, committee vice-chairman Haji Shareef Chokkabettu, district minorities welfare officer Sabir Ahmed Mulla, district social welfare officer Santhosh Kumar, district Wakf Board officer Aboobaker, Talent Research Foundation founder Abdul Rauf Puthige and others were present on the occasion.
