Malpe, Nov 23: Hi-tech boats manufactured in Gujarat, which are highly beneficial for fishermen, have arrived at Malpe docks recently.
With special more features than other boats, Anna Maria' and Aashirvad' had captured the attention of locals and roused their curiosity.
For the first time, a fiberglass manufacturing institute has constructed the two mechanised fishing boats on an experimental basis.
These boats, with advanced gear and equipment, will give priority to the needs and requirements of the future. Since most parts of the mechanised boats including the diesel tanks are made from fiber, their maintenance is easier as well as economical. As compared to normal fishing boats, the external fiber in these boats is thicker with 23 mats, which will be more durable.
Since the layout of the stern (back), bow (front) and hull of the ship are built with a special streamlined design, it makes it easier to travel faster in the water.
Normally which would cost about Rs 1.05 crore, the boats were built at a cost of Rs 82 lakh each. The boat owners have expressed confidence about the manufacturer's assurance of saving 500-1,000 litres of diesel on an average.
Having arrived at Malpe, the two boats have already acquired a catch of fish on the way from Gujarat. The boats have an added advantage of being able to maneuver in the limited space at the docks at Malpe.
With a lot of demand for mechanised boats with advanced features, their number could raise in the nearby fishing docks in Mangalalur and Malpe in the near future, source said.
