Mangalore, Aug 17: The medical report of the fifth standard student, who was alleged to have been sexually assaulted by an elderly man in Bolanthoor, revealed that the girl had been raped.

The ghastly act allegedly took place at Bangarakodi near N C Road in Bolanthoor on Friday evening.
Since the victim's family faced threats, officials from Child Helpline visited their home and collected information from the girl and her family.
The accused Hasainar is said to have lured the girl by asking her to accompany him to his house on the pretext of buying her chocolates. Taking advantage of the situation, he then allegedly raped her.
Hearing the screams of the girl, neighbours ran to the house and caught Hasainar red-handed. Although he managed to escape from the scene, he was later caught by the police.
Initially, it was alleged that he had sexually assaulted the minor girl. After conducting a medical examination, the medical report revealed that he had raped the girl.
He was produced before the magistrate and remanded to 15 days of judicial custody.
The police have registered a case of rape and have booked him under Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
After a complaint was filed before the Child Helpline in Mangalore that the family of the accused was trying to pressurise the girl's family into withdrawing the case, officials from the child organisation collected information from the girl's family and have submitted a report to the Child Welfare Committee for further investigation.
