Mangaluru, Sep 1: A minor Dalit girl was kidnapped and gang-raped by two miscreants at Bajire village near Venoor in Dakshina Kannada district. Police have arrested both the accused including a distant relative of the victim.
The incident occurred when the 16-year-old was walking towards her home on Tuesday at Kaudodi near Ajjibettu village under the limits of Punjalkatte police station.
According to the police, the girl was picked up by her 30-year-old relative in his auto-rickshaw on the pretext of dropping her to her house. After sometime one of his friend also boarded the auto-rickshaw.
The girl was then forcefully taken to a secluded place near Venoor and raped. She returned home late of Tuesday night.
The police said that the victim informed her parents about it on Wednesday and a complaint was filed.
Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase confirmed that both the accused had been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
