Kolar, Sep 30: Health Minister U?T?Khader has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has utterly failed in finding a solution to the vexed Mahadayi issue.

“It does not behove Modi to ask Siddaramaiah speak to Congress leaders of Goa and Maharashtra. There should be no politics in issues concerning land and water. The natural resources do not belong to anyone. The BJP, instead of politicising the issue, should take steps to safeguard Karnataka’s interest,” Khader said.
He said there would not have been any opposition to Yettinahole project, if former chief minister D?V?Sadananda Gowda had consulted the elected representatives of coastal region.
He said that the coastal people, at any time, were not against giving water to dry land regions.
Mr Khader said that the recent incident of sand mafia men attacking a tahsildar had been considered seriously and no efforts would be spared to being the guilty to book. He said that the police and Revenue department should work in tandem to check illegal sand mining.
