Mangalore, Apr 13: There was promise of some relief from the blistering heat in the coastal city on Monday, as Mangaloreans woke up to fully cloudy skies. The temperature dipped in the city overnight. As the day wore on, the sky opened up and started pouring rain.
Rains lashed across coastal Karnataka, Malnad, Bengaluru and Mysuru region of Karnataka on Sunday evening and Monday morning to bring a change in the atmosphere.
A monsoon-like atmosphere prevailed in several parts of Karnataka including Mangaluru and other parts of Dakshina Kannada district wherein continuous thunder and lightning created panic among people.
On Sunday several parts of South interior Karnataka received showers accompanied by gayle. While damages to the properties owing to the rainfall was reported in several parts of the region, no casualties were reported.
According to Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Cell, Holenarsipur in Hassan district recorded the maximum rainfall in the old Mysuru region.
