Bengaluru/madikeri, Jun 8: The monsoon entered?the state a day earlier than the predicted date with Kodagu district receiving heavy rains on Wednesday. Rains coupled with thunderstorm lashed several parts of Kodagu district.

Heavy downpour was recorded at Talacauvery, Bhagamandala, Napoklu, Kakkabbe, Moornadu and the surrounding places. The water flow in River Cauvery has increased and water has started flowing in the streams of the district.
Kodagu received a rainfall of 1.98 mm on Wednesday.
Widespread rain
Belagavi city and surrounding villages received heavy rain for more than two hours.Overcast conditions were prevailing since morning and by afternoon heavy rain, accompanied by thunder, lashed the city.
Incessant rain continued to hit the twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad for the second day. While there was some respite in the rain in Hubballi on Wednesday afternoon, Dharwad continued to receive the heavy rain till evening.
Intermittent rain, accompanied by strong wind and lightning, lashed Shivamogga, Bhadravathi and Shikaripur. The rain that started around 3:40 pm in these taluks lashed for more than an hour. Intermittent rains lashed Hosanagar, Sagar, Thirthahalli and Sorab throughout the day.
Heavy rain lashed Bidar for one-and-a-half hours. It rained heavily in Chikkaballapur. Holalkere and Challakere taluks in Chitradurga district too received good rain. Heavy rainfall in Holalu village of Ballari district flooded shops.
