Mangaluru, Oct 12: Normalcy has returned in the coastal Karnataka’s historic town of Moodbidri, which witnessed Sangh Parivar violence and two days of bandh in the aftermath of the murder of a Bajrang Dal activist.
The town was shut down on Friday and Saturday in the wake of violence that erupted after six unidentified miscreants hacked 29-year-old Prashant Poojary to death in front of his flower shop.
On Sunday too, a few miscreant attempted to impose bandh for third consecutive day by pelting stones on a couple of buses. However, transportation was restored in the town.
Vehicles plied normally in and via Moodabidri, said Assistant Commissioner of Police Udaya M. Nayak and added that other activities too were near normal in the town.
No other major untoward incident was reported from Moodbidri till Monday morning.
While the police registered five cases of vandalism against groups of people, they have secured about 10 persons in connection with the murder, police said.
Meanwhile, the BJP demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and compensation to Prashanth’s family.
