Mangaluru, Mar 30: Mangalore United owned by Mangaluru North MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava put up a superb all-round performance crushing United Ullal owned by Food Minister U T Khader by 64 runs to enter the semi-final of the fourth edition of Mangalore Premiere League.
The MPL-2018 is being jointly organized by the Brand Vision Events, Mangalore Occasionals and Sea Bird Cricket Academy with the approval and guidance of Karnataka State Cricket Association at Dr B R Ambedkar Stadium, Panambur, on the outskirts of the city. A total of 12 teams participated in the tourney which started on March 20. The semi-finals and final will be played on March 31 and April 1 respectively.
Continuing their victory march the top team of the Group B, Mangalore United scored 162/8 largely due to the brilliant cameos from Roshan Shetty (46) and Praveen Dube (46).
Chasing a not-so-easy target, United Ullal whose players were already under pressure to win the match to enter the knock out level, faced a massive defeat.
Apart from Karthik CA (35) and Sathya Swaroop (20) no one could withstand the Mangalore United bowlers. United Ullal bundled out for 98 (16.5 overs).
As a result Mangalore United directly entered semi-finals and United Ullal were eliminated from the tournament.
