Mangaluru, Apr 11: Mangaluru North constituency MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava said that the state government had released a sum of Rs 3 crore to Mangaluru City Corporation for infrastructure works in his constituency from SFC special grant for the financial year 2014-15.

Mr Bava informed that a proposal had been sent to the government to convert Kaikamba into a town municipality.
In addition to funds from the special grant, funds have been sanctioned for the development of several Billava mandirs, masjids and churches in Mangaluru North constituency. The state government has also agreed to sanction a sum of Rs 1.76 crore for the construction of Ambedkar Bhavan in Dakshina Kannada, he said.
Mr Bava also told mediapersons that the state government had agreed to release a sum of Rs 2.90 crore for a new building for the government college at Kavoor in MCC limits.
In response to the villagers' allegation of pollution from coke and sulphur production units of MRPL in his constituency, he said that he had placed a request to the union petroleum minister to rehabilitate the affected villagers along with providing them with a good compensation package.
He said that it was mandatory for the government-run oil company to follow guidelines and implement pollution control measures recommended by the state pollution control board.
