Mangaluru, Jul 14: In a heart-wrenching tragedy, three migrant labourers were buried alive while a fourth was shifted to a hospital in a critical condition after a large chunk of clay fell on them at a construction site at Farangipet in Bantwal taluk on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.

The victims have been identified as Milon, Thorikol and Maiminol, all natives of West Bengal.
The landslide took place at a commercial complex construction site adjacent to a hillock near Pudu Gram Panchayat office at Farangipet in the afternoon. One Syed Bawa was constructing the building.
As many as seven labourers from West Bengal were engaged in construction work in the afternoon. All of a sudden the hillock caved in completely burying three labourers and injuring another one. The injured labourer was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Within a few minutes local residents started rescue operation and started searching for the labourers under the debris. The fire service personnel, home guards and police also reached the spot and accelerated the operation.
However, after an hour long effort, they pulled out the dead body of one of the three workers. At around 6 p.m. the dead bodies of other three workers were pulled out and shifted to the mortuary of Government Wenlock Hospital for post mortem.
Dakshina Kananda SP Dr Sharanappa, ASP Rahul Kumar and Circle Inspector Belliyappa were at the spot during the operation.
