On April 13, IUML workers who took out a protest march against the attack on their office targeted the shops run by SDPI sympathizers, several shops on the Taliparamba market road were damaged in the attack by IUML party workers. Goods valued at nearly Rs.50 lakh were damaged when they set ablaze a garments shop and a hardware and paints shop at Mottambram at Pazhayangadi. The rival party workers allegedly used petrol-soaked rags for the arson attacks, the police said..
Taliparamba police have called in large number of police force in order to avoid untoward incidents. Seeing the tense situation police has issued prohibitory orders under sections 78 and 79 of Kerala Police Act for a period of ten days.
