Bantwal, Nov 12: A second PUC student belonging to the minority community was assaulted by a group, for harbouring a grudge against the former for a minor incident that occurred at a recent NCC camp.

It is learnt that Siddique had participated in a recent NCC camp held last month. Partaking in a quiz competition organised during the camp, he had answered a question in the competition, which irked another participant in the camp called Nitish, who threatened to 'look after' him.
The matter was brought to the notice of the principal, who sorted it out through mutual talks. However, Siddique was assaulted on Wednesday afternoon.
In a complaint lodged by Siddique, he said that four youth Ashin, Shravan, Ajith and Charan, who were pursuing I PUC course in college last year, came to college on two motorbikes and assaulted him before threatening to kill him.
A case has been registered at Bantwal town police station and police are investigating the case.
Condemned
The Bantwal taluk unit of Campus Front of India (CFI) has condemned the assault on Muslim student. Such incidents of assault and violence on minority students affect and hinder their academic studies. An atmosphere of fear and apprehension has developed in schools and colleges owing to such incidents, said the unit, urging the immediate arrest of the accused.
