Mangalore, Mar 1: People of backward classes, Dalits and Muslims have become the puppets in the hands of powerful people in India, lamented Dinesh Amin Mattu, media advisor to Karnataka chief minister.
Speaking at the annual award ceremony of Muslim Lekhakara Sangha at the Town Hall here on Friday evening the former journalist said that there have been continuous efforts to sow the seed of discord between AHINDA (minorities, backward classes and Dalits) communities in order to suppress them.
He said that in the building of Indian democracy, which believes in the equality and equal rights for all the citizens is currently situated on the foundation of inequality and social injustice.
Mr Mattu said that the aim of Indian democracy will fulfill only when the people of all sections in this nation will find representation in all fields including literature. In this regard suppressed and oppressed sections should raise their voice through literature, he said.
Talking about the condition of Muslims, he said that India's biggest religious minority community has been sandwiched between appeasement and hatred politics.
“Muslims are biggest victims of false propaganda. There are widespread misconceptions about Muslims in the society. No one will pay heed to their clarifications. Those who have misconceptions about Muslims and those who pay heed to rumours will not try to understand the reality,” he lamented.
Criticizing the demonization of Muslim leaders, he said that Maulana Abul Kalam Azad along with Mahatma Gandhi had strongly opposed the post independence partition of India, even though Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had agreed to divide the country.
Talking about the recent developments in coastal Karnataka, Mr Mattu said that communal forces have misused the multi cultural society of Dakshina Kannada to create rift between communities.

Ms Ismaeel's play 'Maduve Market'(Wedding Market) was the award winning work.
