Mangalore, June 13: It would take two more days for restoring normal traffic on the Nethravathi bridge on the National Highway No. 66, according to P N Gawasane, Project Director, National Highways Authority of India, Mangalore.
He said on Sunday that the NHAI had restored the stone masonry wall that had slipped by about seven metres down on Friday with 36 cubic metres of concrete.
Plastic sheets had been laid on top of it to prevent seepage of rainwater.
It would require two more days for curing.
Mr. Gawasane said the road at the approach to the bridge had been asphalted to 15 metres for filling the cracks. A 30-tonne weighing vehicle was operated on the stretch on Sunday to test if the asphalted portion would sink. It did not sink.
He said that grass would be planted on the slope to prevent soil erosion.
