Mangalore, July 1: A group of Muslim religious leaders in the coastal Karnataka have come up with an action plan to eradicate dowry system completely from the Muslim society.
In a media release issued here Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar, Qazi of Udupi, said that a massive drive to create awareness against dowry in Muslim mohallas is already under progress.
As part of the campaign an awareness committee would be formed including Khatheebs and mullahs of each Muslim mohallas in the region. This committee would take the lead to spread the anti-dowry message to each and every Muslim family.
Encouraging the new generation to arrange simple marriages is also part of the action plan, said the release.
