Mangalore, November 10: Members of the city unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal will undertake a massive protest rally from Jyothi Circle to Deputy Commissioner's office on November 15 demanding the state government and police department to put an end to all sorts of crimes against cattle.
Announcing this at a press meet here on Saturday, VHP Goraksha Vibhaga Pramukh Kateel Dinesh Rai said that instances of crime against cattle have increased in the state due to the police negligence towards rampant cattle trafficking and cow slaughter.
“The government and police department have the complete right and power to stop cattle slaughter in this state. However, they have so far not taken satisfactory action in this regard,” he said.
Lashing out at the authorities, he said that the Hindutva organisations had previously submitted memorandums to the Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner and Superintendent of Police pressing for total halt on cow slaughter, but to no avail. “Our latest deadline to end crime against cattle expires on November 15,” he said.
He said Gurupura Vajradehi Mutt Seer Rajashekarananda Swamiji, Ravish Tantri Kuntar, VHP regional head M.B. Puranik and Sharan Pumpwell will address the rally. Rajesh Nayak Ulipadiguthu will preside over the programme. Similar protests will be held at all taluk and district centres in the state, he said.
Working President Jagadish Shenoy, district secretary Gopal Kuthar and Bajrang Dal district Goraksha Pramukh Pradeep Pumpwell were present.
