Nagaraj (22), a resident of Uppoor, along with eight others by name Nagaraj Nayak, Mithun, Nithesh, Santhosh, Prashanth, Bharath, Suresh and car driver Afzal, were assaulted by a group at Kukkehalli in Hiriyadka Police Station limits.
Nagaraj, who was severely injured due to the assault, has been admitted to Ajjarakad hospital.
Nagaraj along with his friends from the village had been to Shringeri temple for a tour in a hired Tavera car. While returning home, two youth on a motorbike followed them and stopped them at Kaukkehalli. The two youth dragged Nagaraj's group out and assaulted them stating that their car hit their bike on the way, Nagaraj has stated in his complaint.
Soon, about 30 people from Perdoor arrived at the spot in auto rickshaws and motorbikes and assaulted members who were in the car. Nagaraj in his complaint has said that he was later singled out and assaulted severely. They were drunk and claimed to be Bajarang Dal activists from Perdoor. They also stolehis gold chain and mobile phone, while threatening not to report the matter to police, Nagaraj has alleged.
Their car did not hit the assaulters' motorbike. They have used a false pretext to attack. The intention of the assault is not clear, Nagaraj said.
A case has been registered at Hiriyadka police station.
