Burglars tunnel into jewellery shop; flee with gold, silver

Mangalore, December 10: A jewellery shop was burgled in the wee hours of Monday in the city.

According to Manjunath Shetty, the owner of 'Manjushree jewellers' located in front of Hotel Royal Darbar at Bendoorwell, he has suffered a loss of around Rs 7 lakh in the burglary.

The thieves, who gained entry into the shop through the back-facing side of the shop by making a whole in the wall, made away with 21 grams of gold jewelleries and 9.4 kgs of silver, he said.

He has registered a case regarding the burglary at Kadri police station.

Soni has stated that he discovered about the burglary when he entered the shop at around 10.30 a.m.

Sub Inspector Sukumar, who visited the spot, said that the burglary seemed to have been well-planned.
