Mangalore, December 13: A candlelight vigil was organised in the city on Wednesday evening in honour of Mangalore-origin nurse Jacintha Saldanha, who worked in King Edward Hospital, London.

She was found dead last week in London under mysterious circumstances, after a prank by DJs of Australian radio station.

Relatives and old friends of Jacintha along with other citizens of Mangalore took out a march carrying candles with a banner proclaiming their affection for departed nurse.

Thomas, one of the friends of Jacintha said that he cannot imagine that latter is no more. “She is a victim. But it is being wrongly portrayed that she committed suicide after prank call,” he said.

Another old friend, Victoria said she was sure that Jancintha did not commit suicide. “She was a good lady. I don't believe this,” she said.

“It's very shocking hat a valuable life was lost because of a mindless exercise Man can't create life, they can only destroy life," said a local resident.

Prashanth Menezes alleged that UK government was trying to cover up Jacintha death case.
