Mangalore, December 26: City based television journalist Naveen Soorinje, who was arrested in connection with infamous homestay attack, was hospitalised on Tuesday afternoon after he developed symptoms of chickenpox.

Mr. Soorinje, who has spent 49 days behind the bars since his arrest on November 7, was struck with high fever and rashes on Monday night.

On Tuesday afternoon, he was taken to the District Wenlock Hospital. While the results of the blood tests would be announced on Wednesday, he has been kept under observation and given treatment at the block for jail inmates at the hospital.

The Karnataka High Court is scheduled to deliver the verdict on Mr. Soorinje's bail petition on Wednesday. After his bail application was rejected by the Judicial Magistrate First Class court and the Sessions Court, the journalist had moved the High Court to quash the criminal proceedings against him.
