Mangalore, Jan 1: A middle aged cook of a temple was stabbed to death by his aid in a clash that erupted in the last hours of 2012 in Mangalore.
The deceased has been identified as Mahesha Prabhu (39), who was working as a cook at Kashi Mutt located at Car Street in the city. The accused has been identified as Nadnada Kumar alias Nandu, who was working as a helper to the victim at the same temple. Both hail from Kochi in Kerala.
It is learnt that they were working together for last two years and used to quarrel regarding their leave. Sources in the Mutt said that Prabhu used to scold Nanadu for going to Kochi every month.
On Monday night at around 10:30 p.m. once again a fight broke out between the two regarding same issue. In a fit of rage Nandu, stabbed Prabhu using kitchen knife and fled the scene. Prabhu breathed his last on the spot.
Police, who rushed to the spot, shifted the dead body to Government Wenlock Hospital for post mortem.
A case has been registered at Mangalore North Police Station.
