Elephant turns violent again, attacks mahout, kills him

Puttur, Jan 3: An elephant, which had gone on a rampage on Tuesday evening in Puttur, gored to death its mahout at Uppinangady in the wee hours of Thursday.

The victim has been identified as 45 year old Chandra from Kerala.

The incident occurred at around 2.30 a.m.

The elephant Lakshmeesha that ran amok flung the mahout into the air and gored him with his tusks when he fell on the ground. The elephant stamped the body several times and ripped it into several parts.

In the melee, another person Vijay Kumar sustained severe injuries.

Though the elephant was tranquilised on Wednesday night again it got furious and aggressive.
