Bangalore, Jan 10: In a big relief to Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangha leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Karnataka High Court has dismissed the public interest litigation filed by a Mangalore based activist in connection with an alleged incendiary hate speech.
Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, president of Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike, had filed the PIL charging Dr Bhat with hate speech during at Hindu Samajotsava at Uppinangady in January last year.
On Wednesday, a divisional bench consisting of acting Chief Justice K Sridhar Rao and Justic B V Nagaratna ruled that High Court would not intervene in the matter as the same case is still pending in a lower court.
It could be recalled here Mr Bhat's speech during a Hindu Samajotsav on January 22, 2012, had led to communal violence in the town of Uppinagady and surrounding areas. In his inflammatory speech Mr Bhat had threatened to attack and shoot down the Muslim youths. Though police had filed an FIR against Mr Bhat no action was taken against him.
