
Mangalore, January 13: Union Minister M Veerappa Moily paid a visit to the Lady Goschen Hospital in the city on Saturday and held an inspection of the site where the new Hospital building is slated to come up.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Mr. Moily said that currently the hospital possesses a capacity of 250 beds and as per the plan, it will be upgraded to 500 beds.
The approximated cost of the hospital building comes up to Rs. 21 crore which will entirely be sponsored by MRPL, he said.
By January 28, the tender for the project will be opened and Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar is likely to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony on February 9, Mr. Moily said.
The Minister opined that the project be completed in two phases within two years so that no inconvenience is caused to the already existing patients. There is a need to have rest rooms for men and adequate parking space too, he added.
The project will come up on land measuring 1.35 lakh square feet and will be a five storey building with four operation theatres.
