Mangalore, Jan 14: The district Congress is organizing a vehicle rally followed by public convention against the mal-administration of BJP government on Tuesday at Kannur on the outskirts of the city.
Briefing media persons about the event at the district Congress office in Mangalore on Monday, Congress leader Ivan D'Souza said that the rally cum convention is being organized to create awareness among people about the anti-people policies of the BJP government.
“The BJP has got fragmented into Sriramulu, Yeddyurappa, Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar groups. The ruling BJP itself has become the opposition party now. The Governor must dismiss the government”, he said.
About 1000 two-wheelers and 500 four-wheelers are expected to feature at the vehicle rally said Mithun Rai, President, District Youth Congress. The rally will pass through Urwa Store – PVS – City Centre – Hampankatta – Light House Road – Balmatta – Kankanady – Pumpwell Circle – Padil route and reach Kannur at about 6:30 pm where the public convention will be held.
Senior Congress leaders such as Oscar Fernandes, B Janardhana Poojary, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Ramesh Kumar, B A Moideen, M M Nanayya, B Ramanath Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Vasanth Bangera, U T Khader, Mohammed Masood, B Ibrahim, Mayor Gulzar Banu, former Mayors, corporators and district level office-bearers and activists will participate at the public convention.
New NSUI President
Ashith Periera has been elected as the new district NSUI President. Mr. Periera is a student of SDM Law College, Mangalore. Ashfaq Ibrahim has been elected as the Vice-President.
The newly elected President and Vice President of NSUI along with other office-bearers of the student wing were present at the press meet.
