Udupi, Jan 20: Udupi police have arrested three more persons in connection with the murder of RTI activist and Congress worke r Vandaru Vasudeva Adiga.
Police earlier on Friday had arrested three persons, taking the total arrests in this case to six.

Those arrested on Saturday are Subramanya Udupa, 52, Mohan, 31, and Ravi, 32, all from Bangalore. Adiga went missing on January 7 near Goliangady under Shankarnarayana police station limits. Raghavendra, 32, Umesh, 38, and Naveen, 29, all from Bangalore, were produced before Kundapur court on Friday and remanded to police custody till January 24. The court also remanded those arrested on Saturday to police custody till January 24.
Police are on the lookout for two more accused, and more could be nabbed based on information that the arrested provide to the police during the course of their questioning.
SP MB Boralingaiah said given the sensitivities involved in the case, the investigation has been handed over to Kundapur deputy superintendent of police Yashoda Sunil. "We have worked hard to crack the case in this short period of time," he said, adding that one of the possible reasons for 'outsiders' to be involved in the murder is that the perpetrator(s) might have decided against involving locals who could have given their game away.
Incidentally, Adiga had proved to be the bugbear for the influential in the district for his RTI queries had helped unearth the Jambittige scam and had forced those involved to cough up hefty amounts as fine. He had also unearthed many scams using the RTI Act. Not wanting to speculate on reasons for the murder given than investigations were still on, SP said once the motive is established, police would reveal all the details including the masterminds.
