Complaint against Akbaruddin Owaisi in Mangalore

Mangalore, Feb 5: A lower court in Mangalore has directed the local police to investigate into a complaint lodged against an Andhra Pradesh legislator for alleged 'hate speech'.

The Second Judicial Magistrate First Class Magistrate  Srilatha Shetty on Monday ordered Mangalore South Police to investigate into the complaint against Majlis-e-Ithihadul Muslimeen leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.

The complaint was filed by K Narayana Shetty, a local resident for allegedly making a 'hate speech' on January 4.

The complainant has accused Mr Owaisi of hurting religious sentiments of the people through derogatory remarks. The complaint was filed on January 21.

Mr Shetty has produced before the court a CD containing the video of Mr Owaisi's alleged speech and news paper cuttings of the incident.
