
Police personnel have been deployed in several major tourist spots, populated areas and temples including Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi for security.
Udupi District Superintendent of Police Dr M Boralingaiah, Deputy Superintendent Prabhudev B Mane and Circle Police Inspector Maruthi Nayak on Thursday inspected the security system of the Mutt.
Additional security arrangements have been provided to the Mutt, and installment of CCTV cameras and setting up a police outpost are also being considered, said a department official.
High-alert in Mangalore
As a precautionary measure, a general security alert was also placed in Mangalore following the Hyderabad blasts.
Police were deployed in places such as Bajpe International Airport, bus stand, commercial malls, theatres, temples and major campuses in and around Mangalore, said Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar.
There was security checking in other places such as railway station as alert was issued in the city. Railway passengers were subjected to intense screening at Mangalore Central railway station.
