Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mr Rai said that the BJP had been unsuccessful in solving various problems of the people during their five-year term in the MCC. “Facilities were not provided for the poor, while the introduction of self-assessment property tax and increase in tax on drinking water has added to the inconvenience of the people. Several assurances were given to the people by leaders such as N Yogish Bhat and Krishna J Palemar which were not fulfilled. Although several new schemes were announced, none are in the direction of being implemented,” he said, adding that the Congress had shown good governance during its term.
During the Congress's term in the MCC, people did not face any problems. The Congress has never given false assurances. The promises made in the election manifesto will be fulfilled if voted to power, he said, expressing confidence on winning the upcoming MCC polls.
“The party is in a position to procure maximum number of seats and will definitely claim victory,” he said.
KPCC General Secretary Ivan D'Souza and local Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, P V Mohan, Sadashiv Ullal and other members of the DKCC were present.
