
An RTO employee C S Shastry from Darbe in Puttur taluk grew suspicious of the website, and lodged complaints at the bank and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The website had offered the address and bank account number of an account in the Vijayanagara branch of Vijaya Bank, along with a mobile number for contact, which incidentally, is now 'out of service'.
When contacted, the bank authorities provided information stating that the Trust had a private account number to which a sum of Rs 250 to Rs 350 was credited each day by applicants as application fees.
At the Trust's official address provided in the website, there is no sign of an office or anything remotely connected to the Citizen Future Trust. Already, few individuals had previously come to the area in search of the office, said a local resident.
