Mangalore, Mar 6: Prof (Dr.) Sunil Kumar, Dept of Medicine, Srinivas Institute of Medical Science & Hospital, Srinivas Nagar, Mangalore has set an example of healthcare awareness to others by daily practicing long run for maintaining good health.
Last year doctor participated in a half marathon race in Mumbai. Recently, he participated in Full “Mumbai Marathon-2013” Competition Race of 42 kms organized by Standard Chartered Bank Mumbai wherein many reputed international athletes participated and finished the race in 4 hour 26 minutes and secured a participation and consolation certificate.
He had also participated in long run competition recently organized by Manipal University in Udupi and Corporation Bank in Mangalore and finished the race successfully.
The Association of Physicians of India (API) DK Branch has felicitated Dr. Kumar for being the first Physician of Mangalore for achieving this unique distinction.
As a consultant physician he always advices and advocates his patients to resort to regular exercise for maintaining physical fitness and mental health and also to combat modern day to day health problems like obesity, hypertension, diabetes and coronary heart ailments.
According to Dr. Kumar, participating in different running events is a passion and he derives immense pleasure from it. According to him it also enhances communal harmony, brotherhood, friendship and fellowship.
