Bantwal, Mar 11: While the entire region is celebrating Shivarathri, a plantation worker from Bantwal has been rendered homeless by his own master, on eve of the festival.
Balakrishna Moolya, plantation worker of Prasanna Bhandary, hailing from Balli village of Kuriyala in Bantwal Taluk was shunned out of his house on Saturday night without any rhyme or reason by the master. However the victim has gone ahead and registered a complaint with Bantwal rural police against the master, with the help of the organization representing his community.
Balakrishna's daughter, Meenakshi (13) has been recuperating at a private hospital in Deralakatte after a fire mishap that took place many months ago. On Saturday Balakrishna had been to the hospital to be with his daughter. Seeing this Mr Bhandary gained entry into the house and threatened Balakrishna's wife and three little children and coercively pushed them out of the house.
The attitude of the owner had been inhuman even when Meenakshi had suffered serious injuries in the fire mishap, said the victim.
Coming to the rescue of the homeless family, Bantwal Kulala-Kumbara Yuva Vedike lodged a complaint with the police. Though the Vedike has promised to provide shelter to the couple along with their three little children, they are now staying at the residence of one of their relatives.
